Ribbon

The images below show the iterations in the development of Ribbon. The blue, red and white sections are on different grades of paper - Hot-pressed, Not and Rough Grain.

The blue and red sections have been developed by allowing the pigment to float over the paper and develop its hues. The rough-grain paper of the red sections enabled granulation and build-up of colour to create the illusion of shadows and light. 

The sections were all hand-cut with a scalpel and then, when the sections were conjoined the whole pattern was hand-cut into a single piece of Saunders Waterford high-white Not paper - a process that too several hours
